Training and Employment Information

Window training is required after hire, followed by an end-of-training test on which the employee must qualify to remain employed.

Postal Support Employees (PSE) hold temporary appointments for periods not-to-exceed 360 days. Subsequent appointments after a 5-day break in service may be offered but are not guaranteed, as the use of PSEs is discretionary and subject to business needs.

PSEs can be scheduled for any hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed. PSEs must be available to work when needed.

Postal Service employment is conditional upon meeting medical suitability, general eligibility, background check, and suitability requirements. If you receive a job offer, it will be conditional, even if you are allowed to begin working first.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform sales and customer services at retail windows, including selling stamps, processing packages, and responding to inquiries.


• Assist customers with product selection, provide lobby assistance, and use Mobile Point of Service (mPOS) for transactions.


• Provide information on postal services and special offers.


• Maintain the appearance of the retail lobby and handle product inventories.


• Distribute and process incoming and outgoing mail.


• Perform passport duties as assigned.

Supervision

Reports to the supervisor of the unit assigned.

Physical Requirements

Duties involve moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, standing, walking, and reaching. Applicants must be able to perform these duties with or without accommodation.

Requirements

• Pass the Virtual Entry Assessment CS (477).


• Successfully complete prescribed training.


• Demonstrate customer service, problem-solving, and basic mathematical skills.
